I'm actually not particularly surprised - certainly at Herstmonceux there is a big attendance from Eastern Europe. "The Czechs" has long been a byword for slightly dangerous fighting and really good, really cheap arms and armour.

There is also a Bulgarian group who have the cutest lute player I've ever seen - kind of like Johnny Depp in "Chocolat" but with longer hair and tighter trousers... *sigh*

I'm astonished that they think English history is more entertaining than Russian though - I wouldn't much fancy re-enacting a peasant's life (on the plus side, there wouldn't be much to pack, I suppose...) but some of the battles were equally as interesting as our lot.
