Our photos from Filkcontinental 2007

Apologies for any excess in the number of pictures of our excessively cute little girl. But, like, she's cute and all!

The German filkcon is in a youth hostel on the top of a hill somewhat east of Koln. It was fabulous fun and much amazing music was made.

Maybe you should retitle the set as "Amy goes to FilkContinental"?

Possibly. I think what it proves is that mostly we want to sit back and enjoy listening to the music instead of taking pictures of it, or maybe it shows that Phil is addicted to taking photos of his kids more than anything else :-)

To take good pictures of performers you either need to be right at the front or to have a camera with good zoom and flash/aperture/sensivity. Wrangling an Amy tends to preclude the former, whilst our camera is too compact for the latter. (It's a really good compact camera, and its speed is priceless when taking kid pictures, but it only has a 4x zoom and simply doesn't have the flash-power or light-sensitivity/noise performance to take good pictures at distance in indoor light.)

Plus to an extent, I've seen (and taken) too many pictures of people on stage over the years to find them particularly interesting unless either there's something unusual going on or one can make a particularly good job of it (a la Wolfgang). For I'd need said better camera - and a lot of practice!

Aye. The ones I took are really only useful to remind me who was performing. Even with a front row vantage most of mine are very mediocre. Using flash might have improved that, but there was more than enough flash photography going on anyway...

Amy has become very photogenic. :)

In that set, I took 11 pictures of Amy and 7 of other things.

In that set you took 6 pictures of Amy and none of other things.

Pot! Kettle! :)

I don't deny it. But then I didn't post them as our photos from FilkContinental. Had I posted them at all I might have posted them as pictures of Amy that we took while attending FilkContinental. The only reason I picked up the camera during filking was to take pictures of you with Amy (because you tell me I don't do enough of that) and the others were so I could have pictures of Amy with the toy dog so i can put them into the book from Nursery.

I agree that to take good pictures of people performing you need to have put them time in developing the skill to take good pictures of people performing, but I think that if you spend your focus on that then it is likely to be at the cost of being able to pay attention to the music and I'm there to enjoy the music not to try and capture the visual which usually does not capture the magic of the moment. And I think the same applies to you. I am happy to be a pot in this context.

Oh, gosh, isn't she just! And a very bold and confident looking young lady too. Can't imagine who she gets that from... =:o}
